Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is frequently viewed as one of the most difficult but favored poker games. It is a game that, even more than normal Omaha poker, aims for action from every level of players. This is the primary reason why a once irrelevant variation, has increased in acceptance so rapidly.

Omaha hi-low starts exactly like a normal game of Omaha. 4 cards are dealt to every player. A sequence of betting follows where gamblers can bet, check, or drop out. Three cards are handed out, this is referred to as the flop. A further round of wagering happens. Once all the players have either called or folded, an additional card is flipped on the turn. Another round of betting ensues and then the river card is revealed. The gamblers must attempt to put together the best high and low five card hands based on the board and hole cards.

This is the point where a number of players can get confused. Contrasted to Texas Hold ‘Em, in which the board can make up every player’s hand, in Omaha hi/low the player must utilize exactly three cards on the board, and precisely 2 cards from their hand. No more, no less. Unlike normal Omaha, there are two ways a pot might be won: the "high hand" or the "lower hand."

A high hand is just what it sounds like. It’s the best hand out of every player’s, regardless if it is a straight, flush, full house. It is the same notion in nearly all poker games.

The lower hand is more complicated, but certainly free’s up the play. When deciding on a low hand, straights and flushes do not count. A low hand is the worst hand that might be made, with the worst being A-2-3-4-5. Considering that straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the worst possible hand. The low hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an 8 and lower. The low hand takes half of the pot, as does the higher hand. When there is no low hand presented, the higher hand takes the whole pot.

It may seem difficult at the outset, following a couple of rounds you will be agile enough to get the basic subtleties of play easily enough. Seeing as you have individuals betting for the low and wagering for the high, and seeing as so many cards are being used at once, Omaha 8 or better provides an amazing assortment of betting possibilities and owing to the fact that you have numerous players battling for the high hand, as well as several battling for the low. If you prefer a game with a considerable amount of outs and actions, it’s not a waste of your time to compete in Omaha/8.
